What Dhyan Pay is
Last updated 25 August 2026
The home page is written to be felt. This one is written to be checked: the same service, described plainly, for anyone who needs to know exactly what it does before they can say yes to it.
The service, in one paragraph
Dhyan Pay is a personal budgeting app, delivered as a website you can install on your phone. You divide your month into a few wallets — Food, Transport, whatever yours turn out to be — and put a monthly limit on each one. Before you make a UPI payment, you set the amount against a wallet here, and if that would take the wallet past its limit you are told so before you pay rather than on a statement three weeks later. Then you pay in your own UPI app exactly as you always have. Dhyan Pay keeps the score; your bank and your UPI app do everything else.
What you get
- Wallets and limits — as many as you want, each with a monthly limit and its own cycle start date.
- The pause — a warning at the moment of paying, not after, when a payment would push a wallet past its limit.
- The habit gate — an optional automation on your own phone that brings Dhyan Pay up when you open GPay, PhonePe, Paytm or CRED, so the pause actually reaches you at the counter. You set it up yourself, and it can be removed the same way.
- Recurring entries — rent, a subscription, anything on a fixed day, recorded for you each cycle.
- Shared wallets — a household where chosen wallets are visible to the people in it. Wallets you do not share stay private.
- Reports and export — where the month went, and a CSV of every payment whenever you want one.
- Alerts — optional notifications when a wallet is close to its limit, or when a payment is left unconfirmed.
How you use it
- Create an account with an email address and a password. No name, phone number or KYC document is asked for.
- Set up your wallets and put a limit on each.
- When you are about to pay, open Dhyan Pay, enter the amount and pick the wallet. It tells you where that leaves you.
- Your UPI app opens. You pay there, under your own credentials, exactly as you would have anyway.
- Come back and mark it paid. The wallet updates.
What it is not
This matters more than the feature list, so it is stated flatly:
- It is not a payment service. Dhyan Pay never holds, transfers, receives or touches money. It does not collect payments on behalf of merchants and settles nothing to anyone, so it is not a payment aggregator under the Reserve Bank of India's directions. It does not route or process payments, so it is not a payment gateway. It is not a UPI app, has no arrangement with a PSP bank, is not registered with NPCI, and cannot itself initiate a UPI payment. All it does is open your own UPI app with the details already filled in.
- It is not connected to your bank. It cannot see your balance, your statement or your transactions, and it never asks for your UPI PIN.
- It is not financial advice. Limits, warnings and reports are arithmetic on numbers you entered yourself. Nothing is recommended, rated or sold to you.
- It is not an authority on what you spent. Its records are what you told it. If you forget to record a payment, the numbers will be wrong, and only you can correct them.
Who it is for
Adults in India who pay for most things by UPI and would like to know where the month is going while it is still going. It is single-player by design: nobody is invited into your budget unless you deliberately share a wallet with them.
Where it runs
In a browser, at app.dhyanpay.in, and it can be added to a phone's home screen so it behaves like an installed app. There is no Play Store or App Store listing and no APK to download. It works on Android and iPhone.
